Managing Change - Moving Forward

This is the last of four post on getting started managing change. Let's talk about something we all face after experiencing a big change: figuring out what to do next.

It can be really tough to know which direction to go in or how to find your next step. But don’t worry—having some self-knowledge can make it a lot easier.

First, let’s explore your preferences and permissions. Start by asking yourself: “Of all the things that could happen from here, which options would I choose?” Keep in mind your values and needs, as well as those of the people close to you. This helps you align your choices with what truly matters to you and your loved ones.

Next, ask yourself: “Of all the options I have, which ones are more likely to give me a green light?” Your best green light will come from options that:

• Are under your control: Choose actions that you can make happen. 
• Rely only resources you have or can get: Make sure you can access what you need to follow through.
• Have positive benefits for everyone involved: Consider the impact on the important others in your life and aim for choices that everyone can live with or see as a win-win.
• Give you the positive important benefits that you were getting before your life changed: Look for options that help you regain the positive aspects of your previous situation. Don’t give up on what you value, but be flexible and open to new ways of getting the things you value. 

By focusing on these areas, you can identify the steps that are most likely to lead to success and fulfillment. It’s all about finding the path that feels right for you and those around you.

So, next time you’re at a crossroads, take a moment to explore your preferences and permissions. It can guide you toward the best possible next step.
